September is a great month for change.
“Back-to-school” and ‘fresh start’ vibes aside, what I like about it is the timing.
For goal setting, a Christmas target date of 12-ish weeks feels manageable (versus a whole year for New Year’s resolutions, which can overwhelm).
It’s long enough to make meaningful progress, but short enough to stay focused. Plus, a lot can change in 9 months – by this point in the year, January goals can feel far away as our lives have shifted, evolved (possibly even been turned upside down).
So, while I’m not a fan of ‘The Great Lock In’ floating around socials (I think anything that extreme is unrealistic and has too much potential for failure and demotivation), I believe September is an ideal time for a more gentle rethink.
I delivered a ‘September Reset’ talk last week at Soho House, and have decided to make it into a workbook for all my paid subs as a little THANK YOU for being a part of this community.
If you’re not yet part of that community and would like to give the workbook a go, now’s a good time to take advantage of your 7-day free trial :-) You can always download it and then cancel, although of course I’d rather you stuck around!
Anyway, workbook below. Enjoy, good luck, would love to hear how you get on.
