Does trying to make life "easy", actually make it more difficult?
I really enjoyed this post. I wonder if there's any studies done on if removing friction in our lives, have we become lazy. Because we're so reliant on things to aid us in our everyday lives, having a roomba to vaccum for us, ordering food so we don't have go to the shop, we let other things handle stuff we could be doing. I know the argument is made that if you free up housework time, you could do other things, but we're so rarely doing "other things" that are more valuable than the task you've given to someone or something else. This topic is so fascinating to me!
Ah I always love your wise viewpoints and contemplations! I totally agree - sometimes the old fashioned way ends up being better for us. It’s lovely slowing down in this way. Even with smartphones… I used to feel calmer before I had a smartphone, probably because they entertain us all the time and we rarely get time to just be still and enjoy what’s around us, so they make us less focused and more impatient .
