Hey! Two things have happened: Firstly, some new subscribers recently joined this Substack (hey, welcome, thank you!) Secondly, I’ve decided to make a few changes around here. So, I figured now would be a good time to sit down and clarify what prioritise this is all about, tell you a bit about me (skip this if you already know!) and explain what I’ve got planned for this space going forward.
The modern world – for all its many benefits – is difficult to navigate.
It’s filled to the brim with constant demands, endless options and infinite distractions, and can often feel overwhelming and exhausting. It’s a challenge to stay focused. It’s hard to know whether we’re making the right choices. It’s difficult to make time for the people and things that we know are truly important. All too easily we can find ourselves prioritising relationships, behaviours, thoughts and situations that don’t serve us, floating directionless in a life that sometimes doesn’t even feel like ours.
prioritise this aims to empower you to change that.
It’s an online space for anyone who struggles with their priorities, finds they never have enough time or wishes they had more energy for the people and activities they love. It’s the home for my knowledge as a mindset coach, but it’s also a place for like-minded individuals (read: wellness, with a side of scepticism and wine) to come together and explore how to live a happier, healthier life that works for them.
Ultimately I want it to help you create meaningful change - both in your own life and in that of others.
Okay sure, but who are you?
Hi, I’m Lily. I love all things self-development, and have been lucky enough to make that my career. I have done a lot of learning, researching and teaching on the kinds of topics that can help shift the way we think about, and experience, life. I’m particularly interested (obsessed) with priorities and how they can shape our lives. And while I definitely don’t have all the answers (far bloody from it - I am my first student, and all that!) I love sharing what I know.
Why should I prioritise this newsletter?
If you’re interested in self-development, behavioural science, positive psychology and neuroscience-light, then you’re in the right place. Basically I use this space to share what I know, in the most down-to-earth way I know how. Expect tools, tips and (purposeful!) ramblings on the kinds of things that can help you - and me - live a better life. There is quite a bit of talk about habits and goals, but let me be very clear: this is not a productivity newsletter, if that’s what you want, you’re not in the right place. This is somewhere to help you get clear on how you want to live, not what you want to achieve. It’s a place to embrace a 360 degree approach to your health and life. And what’s happening next…?
I’ve been writing this newsletter every week now for six months. It’s become the place where I throw down my most personal and (I hope!) useful thoughts on what to prioritise in life. Going forward, I want to create more interaction and dialogue, and to use my skills as a coach to build a like-minded community of people who want to effect real change in their lives.
So, from March 7th, I’ll be adding the option to become a paid subscriber. My weekly Tuesday newsletter will remain free to everyone, ad infinitum.
