prioritise this: an online space for the things that really matter in life.

Hi, I’m Lily.

I’m a journalist, podcaster and mindset coach and I find it very hard to explain what I do in under two minutes when I meet someone new. I’ve lived in London all my life, am nearing 40 (wtf?) and have two young children who keep me joy-filled and f*cking exasperated in equal measure. I love cold water swimming, boxing, long walks or hikes, reading self-development books, puzzles, dirty martinis, skincare, dancing, charity shops, travelling, hitting up the local playground, organising drawers, and podcasts. I’m also trained as a yoga teacher, but don’t teach much anymore.

Okay, so what do you do?

I love all things self-development, and I’ve luckily managed to make this obsession my career… I write features and I run events and retreats, teaching people and businesses how to better cope with the demands of modern life. I host panel talks and events, and I especially like ones that help foster community (& that involve wine). I particularly like talking about priorities – I founded The Priorities Method, and I have a podcast, Priorities, where I interview expert guests on what’s important and unimportant to them. (If interested, bit more on me here.)

And before that?

For 12 years I worked at fashion and art magazines, mostly writing features but also running special projects and directing fashion films. I loved the camaraderie and creativity of working in magazines. I did not love the relentless pace, the constant travel or the laser-like focus on the aesthetic. Ultimately I left because I couldn’t care that much about shoes for the rest of my life. I miss my colleagues and I miss working in a team, but I don’t miss the rest.

So… you have a bit of a thing for priorities?

Yep. I believe that having a clear (but flexible) idea of what’s important to you can help foster a life that feels on track. I think the modern world is chocked full of demands and distractions, and without clear priorities it’s way too easy to find yourself drifting aimlessly or saying yes to everyone except yourself. I know that all this applies to me and sometimes I am terrible at prioritising, which is why I’m so obsessed with it. I am my first student, and all that. I created The Priorities Method to help share everything I know about using your priorities to build a life you love.

Why should I prioritise this newsletter?

I have a very simple mission with this space – I want to empower more people (i.e. YOU) to create meaningful change in your own life (both internally for yourself, and externally for others and the world around you). I’m not saying I have all the answers, far bloody from it! But I’ve done a lot of learning, researching and teaching on the kinds of topics that can help shift the way we think about, and experience, life. Every week I share what I know, in the most down-to-earth way I know how. Expect tools, tips and (purposeful!) ramblings on the kinds of things that can help us live better lives and navigate modern living with it’s many demands and countless ups and downs. It’s wellbeing, yes, but don’t ever expect me to suggest you drink a green juice (unless that’s your thing). Do expect the odd swear word.

And how does it work?

You can expect a newsletter to arrive fortnightly, on a Tuesday afternoon at around 4pm, this is generally an essay on a self-development subject, such as Letting Go, Saying No or The Myth of Balance. For paid subscribers, I have live Q&As, giveaways, meditations, breathwork videos and positive-psychology recommendations and round-ups (aka: I do the work so you don’t have to).

Here’s some of the things prioritise this can help with:

-       Improve your mindset and outlook on life

-       Learn how to stop procrastinating

-       Free up your time and energy

-       Find it easier to make decisions

-       Stop believing in outdated and unhelpful and rigid wellness ideas

-       Feel confident in your choices in life

What are the benefits of a paid subscription?

Firstly, you’ll be supporting me. And to be honest, writing this newsletter takes a lot of work. (Work that I love!)

Secondly, you’ll get access to exclusive coaching content, giveaways, Q&As, voice memos, videos and recommendations. So quite a lot of stuff really, for the price of a sandwich or glass of wine.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, your support will mean that I can keep my weekly newsletter free for everyone else for as long as possible.

If this feels like something you can do then please click on the button below.

Here’s what you get (for just £6 a month OR £60 a year) if you become a paid subscriber:

·       Live Q&As

·       Accountability & support in defining and achieving your goals

·       Recommendations and roundups

·       Yoga and meditation recordings and videos

·       Giveaways - books, beauty products, supplements and more

·       A community of people exploring how to live a better life!

·       Discounts to my in-person events and retreats

If you choose to become a Founding Member (£250) you get access to all the above plus a private 90 min coaching session with me.

Now of course a paying subscription is not for everyone right now. For some people any additional payment being taken out of their bank account at the end of the month will be a struggle. If you don’t have any discretionary income and you want to join this community then let me know. You don’t have to go into detail. Just ask. You can support in lots of other ways. Like sharing this newsletter with people you think would like to hear about it. And here’s how you do just that…
